The Flinders Drama Centre professional acting and directing programs began in 1971 at the Flinders University of South Australia in Adelaide. 
     Graduates of the Flinders Drama Centre receive a strong grounding in performance theory together with a high level of technical skills and are
     thought of as "the intelligent alternative" when it comes to artists.
    
     Drama Centre graduates have made a significant contribution to the entertainment industry both nationally and internationally.  They include Academy Award
     nominee Scott Hicks, award winning director of theatre, musicals and opera Gale Edwards, award winning producer Steve Knapman, accomplished theatre
     directors Benedict Andrews and Geordie Brookman, award winning actors Nick Hope and Noni Hazlehurst, feature film star Xavier Samuel, award
     winning playwrights Melissa Reeves and Caleb Lewis and Helpmann Award Nominees Cameron Goodall, Michaela Cantwell and Amber McMahon
     Flinders Drama Centre graduates have been founding members of many different companies including Circus Oz, Redgum, The Angels, Doppio Teatro,
     Red Shed, Brink Productions, Red Stitch, The Border Project, Accidental Productions and Five.point.one
