The Flinders Drama Centre professional acting and directing programs began in 1971 at the Flinders University of South Australia
in Adelaide.  Graduates of the Flinders Drama Centre receive a strong grounding in performance theory together with a high level
of technical skills and are thought of as "the intelligent alternative" when it comes to artists.

Drama Centre graduates have made a significant contribution to the entertainment industry both nationally and internationally.
They include Academy Award nominee Scott Hicks, award winning director of theatre, musicals and opera Gale Edwards,
award winning actors Nick Hope and Noni Hazlehurst and award winning playwright Melissa Reeves.  Flinders Drama Centre
graduates have been founding members of many different companies including Circus Oz, Redgum, The Angels, Doppio
Teatro, Red Shed, Brink Productions and The Border Project.
